Who are we?

We are independent homeshare entrepreneurs who are passionate about sharing our knowledge of how to become a successful homeshare host.


Over 7 years, we have learnt the lessons of how to run a profitable and sustainable homeshare operation which delivers a fabulous guest experience. 


After working in management roles for over 20 years, in financial services and management consulting, we recently left the corporate world to run our homeshare business full-time. 


Our homeshare story begins in 2012 when we became hosts accidentally. We moved at short notice with our work to Singapore, so we left our home, Dantosa (Blue Mountains, Australia) in the hands of kind neighbours to manage as a short-term rental.

A few years later, we saw the opportunity to drive both excellence and profit in the business, and took charge...

  • We grew our homeshare business to $300,000 in 5 years, with just one property
  • We added two apartments to our homeshare business, allowing us the freedom to travel as new empty-nesters, staying at one place while the other properties provide us with income
  • We've written a best-selling book for homeshare hosts, published by the same publisher as Harry Potter's JK Rowling, available in bookstores worldwide and on Amazon.
  • Our business has received over 500 bookings and we have welcomed over 5,000 guests and their visitors
  • Media from the US, Australia, Singapore and Malaysia have interviewed us about homesharing and how to be successful hosts

    Derek Young Co-Founder of HomeShare Solutions

    Derek worked in wealth management for 30 years providing advice to corporate and private clients. He was Regional CEO of an Asian business before starting his own wealth management firm. Today, Derek's full-time focus is on Dantosa Blue Mountains Retreat and working with other hosts to transform their businesses through HomeShare Solutions.

    Gabriela Domicelj Co-Founder of HomeShare Solutions

    Gabriela has 25 years’ experience in management consulting and 5 years’ experience in film production, focusing on documentaries which tell the stories of private individuals and companies. Today, Gabriela works full-time in advising hosts through HomeShare Solutions and continuing to grow Dantosa Blue Mountains Retreat.
